Partial Clinic Closure
For the safety of all our patients and staff, appointments will be conducted over the phone, unless otherwise specified. Dr. Wang will call you within 2 hours of your appointment from a number with blocked caller ID.
While some health concerns can be addressed with virtual care alone, if necessary, Dr. Wang may ask you to visit our office, a hospital, or another health care facility for a physical examination.
Phone Appointments
Dr. Wang will call you within 2 hours of your appointment time from a number with blocked caller ID. If you do not answer, unfortunately, you must rebook your appointment.
Office Visits
If you are visiting our office, we ask that you wear a face covering that covers the nose, mouth, and chin. Noncompliance with this policy, without just cause, may result in a patient being asked to leave the office. Please do not loiter after your appointment to speak to staff or other patients. Please do not arrive early for your appointments.
We also ask that you refrain from seeing Dr. Wang in her office if the nature of your appointment does not make a visit necessary. We are committed to keeping staff and patients safe, which means providing accessible, virtual care to patients whenever we can.
If you have symptoms similar to those of COVID-19, Public Health mandates you test negative for COVID-19 before visiting your doctor in their office.
Patient Confidentiality & Virtual Health Care
COVID-19 is placing stress on Canada's public health system. Our clinic is offering virtual care to ensure we continue to care for our patients safely and effectively. This means we will be using video and audio technologies for some patient visits, rather than asking all of our patients to come into our office. Some of these technologies are provided by the province of Ontario. Others have been provided by vendors, such as Google and Apple, to help make discussions with your health care provider as easy as possible during these difficult times.
We do our best to ensure any information you give to us during a virtual appointment remains private and secure. However, no audio or video tools are ever completely secure. There is an increased security risk that your health information may be intercepted or disclosed to third parties when using video or audio communication tools. To help us keep your information safe and secure, please note:
- Emails, calls, or texts are not as secure as an appointment in a private examination room.
- You should use a private computer/device (i.e., not an employer's or third party's computer/device) and secure accounts, with a secure Internet connection, for your virtual appointments.
- For example, using a personal and encrypted email account is more secure than an unencrypted email account, and your WiFi on your home network will generally be more secure than an open guest WiFi connection.
- Electronic communication is not a substitute for in-person communication, necessary clinical examinations, or visits to the Emergency Room.
- If you are concerned about using video or audio tools for virtual care, you can ask our office to arrange a visit to a different health care provider or other health care centre, where you can be seen in person. However, please note that visiting a health care provider in-person comes with a higher risk of coming into contact with COVID-19 and spreading the virus.
- By providing your information, you agree to let us collect, use, or disclose your personal health information through video or audio communication tools--while following applicable privacy laws--to provide you with care. In particular, the following means of electronic communication may be used: email, video conferencing (such as Skype and FaceTime), text-messaging (such as instant messaging), website/portal, as well as others.
